How do you choose a free Red Rock practice test?

  • You want the full 35 minutes, including the six cases. SolvePrep, Solve Games Guide, PSG Cracked and CaseStar's free full sitting all give a full-length run. The full clock matters because candidates most often run out of time on the last cases.
  • You want to try before giving an email. CaseStar's 8-minute sample needs no sign-up. Road to Offer's short edition asks for a free account to save and continue.
  • You want to see why an answer was wrong. Check the worked-answers column. A score without the calculation tells you where you lost marks, not how to stop losing them.
  • You want the most scenarios for the least money later. Compare the “to continue” column: fixed packs of 10 to 30 tests, lifetime access, 2-week access, or a time-boxed pass with new scenarios each run.

How can you prepare for Red Rock for free?

  1. Take one short run to learn the flow of Investigation, Analysis and Report. Free: an 8-minute sample with no sign-up, and one full 35-minute sitting with an email.
  2. Do one full 35-minute run from a different provider, so you meet a second writing style and a second set of numbers.
  3. Rework every missed answer on paper. The usual culprits are percentage points versus percent, the wrong base year, and rounding too early; see Red Rock math.
  4. Practise the case pace separately: about two minutes per case. See Red Rock mini-cases.

For the format itself, read the Red Rock Study guide. How this page was researched is described in our editorial method.

Common questions

Is there a free full-length McKinsey Red Rock practice test?

Yes, several. SolvePrep and Solve Games Guide each give one 35-minute Red Rock game after you create an account, PSG Cracked gives one full study for an email address, and CaseStar gives one full 35-minute sitting with six mini-cases after an email sign-in. Road to Offer's free run is a shorter edition of about 12 minutes. Details were checked on each provider's page on 27 September 2026.

Can I practise Red Rock without signing up?

CaseStar's 8-minute sample needs no sign-up. The other free options on this page ask for an account or an email address before or during the run.

Which free option shows worked answers?

MConsultingPrep's trial includes answer guides, PSG Cracked checks your calculations after the run, and CaseStar's sample shows each answer worked through. Road to Offer shows worked solutions after a one-time unlock or a plan. CaseStar's free full sitting works through the first three answers; the rest come with the Solve Pass.

Is free practice enough for McKinsey Solve?

One free sitting shows you the format and your first mistakes. Most candidates want several full sittings so they can check that a fix holds on a new scenario. Start with the free options, then pay only if you need more repetitions.

Sources and limits

CaseStar (casestar.io) is an independent practice platform for consulting recruiting: timed McKinsey Solve simulators, including Red Rock, and voice case interviews. It is not affiliated with McKinsey & Company.

McKinsey publishes only a broad description of Solve. Details labelled as candidate-reported come from debriefs and can differ between candidates, regions and test versions. Worked examples on this page are original CaseStar exercises, not assessment questions. Your invitation and recruiter take precedence.
